Fresh Chill
Family Friends Reproductive Team can collect a sample from a stud that can then be shipped throughout the US and/or Canada. After the semen is collected, a full semen evaluation is done and the sample is spun down to extract the most concentrated semen. The concentrated sample is then mixed with an extender or “semen” food and shipped on ice overnight to the requested clinic.
Frozen Semen
Family Friends Reproductive Team can collect a sample from a stud and freeze it for future breeding purposes. After the sample is collected, a full semen evaluation is done and the sample is spun down to extract the most concentrated semen. The semen then goes through a 6-hour process to be frozen using liquid nitrogen. Once the sample has been frozen and tested for good thawing quality, the sample is sent to Zoetis for storage.
Due to the length of this process and the specific requirements necessary, a pre-freezing examination is required for all freezing clients.
