Before ovulation has been confirmed, your veterinarian will help you decide the best way for your pet to be bred. Family Friends offers 3 types of breeding in office.
- Natural tie – Done at home or at a designated area, discussed with the stud owner. Can take anywhere from 2-30minutes.
- Vaginal Insemination – Done at Family Friends. A polypropylene catheter is inserted vaginally. Once in the vaginal canal, the semen is inseminated.
- TCI (Transcervical Insemination) – Done at Family Friends. A scope with a camera on the end is inserted far enough into the vaginal canal to locate the cervix. A catheter is then passed through the cervix, into the uterus and the patient is inseminated.
- SX AI – Done at Family Friends. This is an insemination done under anesthesia that requires an abdominal incision and exposing the uterus. This is a procedure that is only done if the bitch has had 2 previous failed TCI attempts.
